EMDR in Anchorage, Alaska and Florida

My mind knows I’m safe. Why doesn’t my body?

You may understand what happened. You may know it was not your fault. You may even recognize the beliefs and patterns that came from it.

Still, a memory, sound, expression, conflict, or ordinary moment can bring the whole experience back. Your heart races. Your body braces. Shame or fear arrives before your mind has time to remind you that the danger has passed.

Insight matters but sometimes it does not reach the part of you that still feels as if the experience is happening now.

Bridge the gap between knowing the past is over and finally feeling that it is.

A DIFFERENT WAY THROUGH

EMDR Can Help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can remember what happened without feeling pulled back into it. You can begin to feel that the past is actually over. And I can help you get there.

EMDR is an evidence-based, structured approach that helps your brain process distressing memories so they feel less immediate and overwhelming. Using bilateral stimulation, such as gentle back-and-forth eye movements or taps, we work with the images, emotions, beliefs, and body sensations connected to the experience while helping you stay connected to the present.

EMDR helps you:

Remember without reliving.

Distressing memories can become less vivid, immediate, or consuming.

Loosen beliefs that formed around what happened.

Beliefs such as “It was my fault,” “I am not safe,” or “I am powerless” can begin to shift as the experience is processed.

Help your body catch up to what your mind already knows.

The goal is not to erase the past. It is to help the experience feel more like something that happened and less like something that is still happening.

Work With Me

EMDR may be a good fit if…

  • You have a specific memory, event, or belief you want to work on.
  • You get caught in repetitive thoughts or memories.
  • You feel more comfortable with guided trauma processing.
  • You’ve tried talk therapy, but it has only taken you so far.

Imagine this…

  • You wake up and your mind isn’t already somewhere in the past.
  • A difficult moment passes without taking the rest of your day with it.
  • You remember what happened and remain aware that you are here, now.
  • There is more room for rest, connection, and the life in front of you.
